Specialty Doors & Hardware has supplied large acoustical sliding doors to the world’s most demanding production facilities for decades, and our systems are built to perform where it matters most: on set.
Soundstage doors are the heavy-duty solution for openings where a swinging hinged door is impractical due to size, but sound isolation cannot be compromised. The vast majority of our systems are electrically operated, with the most common sizes running 18′ × 20′ and up. We’ve completed systems as tall as 40′ — and the larger the opening, the better we perform.

53 STC Sound Rating Our steel panel systems achieve a Sound Transmission Class of 53 — tested and confirmed on-site, not just in the lab. In a documented June 2013 field test using concert-level “pink noise,” our 18′ × 20′ installation reached a Noise Isolation Coefficient of 50 on the studio side — the acoustical equivalent of an 8″ brick wall.
Integrated Electric Operator System The operator and door panels are engineered as a single, integrated system. A roller chain concealed inside the track drives the panels — no exposed cable, no visible hardware. Clean, professional, and reliable.
Full Perimeter Double Acoustical Seals Every movable element is sealed around its complete perimeter with double acoustical seals — the foundation of our consistent real-world performance.
Manual Override on Power Failure Unlike the 8″ concrete doors of the past (which required a forklift to move in an emergency), our panels can be manually operated with minimal effort. No production delays, no safety risks.
Custom Controls Available We supply constant pressure key switches, relays, safety edges, and any other control configuration your facility requires.
Curved & Radius Track Options Non-linear openings are no problem. We provide curved and radius hardware in both manual and electric operation for complex architectural requirements.
