The biggest factor on what drives up the cost of sliding door hardware is the material that it’s made of.
At the top of the list is stainless steel which requires specialized tools to machine and to work with, and it’s also the material is expensive itself.
It’s a lot higher quality. Not that our sliding door hardware is low quality, but if you get a solid stainless steel sliding door hardware set, it’s machined individually out of a solid piece of stainless steel.
Everything fits together really well, so you’ll have a really smooth operation.
It’s made out of a really good grade of stainless steel, so it’s not going to rust. It’ll probably outlive your opening.
The stainless steel always costs more than the carbon steel.
The exposed sliding door hardware always costs more than the concealed sliding door hardware.
Also, what the door is made out of.
If it’s a frameless glass door, it’s always going to be more than a wood door. It’s a little more difficult.
Sliding door hardware that’s more ornate, that’s from Germany, is going to be more expensive than domestic door hardware.
They look a lot nicer. They’re a lot more ornate. There’s a lot more involved in making them. Materials are more expensive. Shipping is more expensive.
Then you can have powder coated steel. Powder coating is an extra step in the process, so that drives up the price.
Then you have either galvanized steel and aluminum sliding door hardware. That’s on the least expensive end of the spectrum.
It’s all about what you want to see and what you want to spend.
